Please meet Kiela and her 3 pups. Kiela is approximately 2 – 3 years old. She is a fawn colored boxer with natural ears. Kiela’s story is heartbreaking to say the least. She was left pregnant and abandoned in a home. The neighbors, when havinga yardsale one weekend heard whining from the abandoned house next door. Knowing the former family had moved out and the home was abandoned they decided to check it out. There was Kiela and 3 living, 3 week old pups….8 more pups surrounding Kiela had died, most likely from starvation. Kiela was severely emaciated. We can’t imagine the anxiety she felt, 1. being left in a home pregnant and having to find something to eat and 2. watching her babies die one by one. Ugh! Now fast forward to the present; Kiela’s past experience hasn’t changed her fabulous, sweet personality. Despite being left by her former family, she has a super great temperament and just loves all people. She is also good with other dogs. Kiela has just one more hurdle to get over, and that is heart worm. She has tested positive for heart worm and will begin treatment as soon as our vets deem her healthy enough. Remember, she is at the moment, still somewhat emaciated. She will also be spayed before adoption. She is current on vaccines and as we learn more about her, we will update this post.
Now, we have Kiela’s 3 babes! They are boxer mixes,
with natural tail and ears. There are 2 males and one female. They were born somewhere around 5/17. As soon as they were discovered and taken in by a very kind soul, the pups along with Kiela were taken immediately to the vet. All were de-wormed. The pups will be getting their first of a series of three puppy vaccines the week of 7/3. Fassa’s Friends will incur the cost for spaying and neutering of all of our puppies. AS with all of our young
pups there are a few requirements for the potential adoptive home: 1. You must have a physically
fenced in area surrounding your backdoor. Puppies need room to run and explore and can do so safely in a secure fenced in area. It is also easier to potty train: 2. You are required to attend a basic puppy course until completion with your puppy. A PetSmart or Petco training is sufficient. They usually consist of onc class a week for six weeks. WE have received much positive feedback regarding this. Most of our prior puppy parents have taken their dogs on to agility training, good citizen’s training and/or therapy dog training. Training increases the bond between you and your puppy and also increases your puppy’s confidence enabling him to be a healthy, happy puppy and canine family member. Please remember at this age, puppies jump, scratch, engage in puppy nipping and chewing. This is all normal puppy behavior so those of you interested in a puppy, and you have a toddler, you may want to rethink the adoption of a puppy this young. FYI- we do have an older dog, Molly who was raised with babies and toddlers and would be perfect for a toddler home!
If you think you are a match for any in this family, please complete an adoption application found at the top of this page under the Adoption Tab.
