Let us introduce Duke! Duke is a one year old male Boxer with natural ears and docked tail. Duke is a large boy weighing in at close to 70 lbs. Duke is current on vaccines, neutered and all set for his new home. Duke’s previous owner had taken Duke in from a friend who could no longer care for him. In the 4 weeks he had Duke, Duke had escaped 5 times. The 5th time Duke was “on the lamb,” he was picked up by a local Animal Control. His owner searched for him and found him at a local shelter. His discussed with the Adoption coordinator at the shelter, his options and when he was told the shelter would find Duke rescue, the owner decided to sign Duke over to the shelter. Fassa’s Friends was then asked if there was room for him in rescue. Duke is our newest rescue.
He is brindle with a black mask, potty trained and full of energy. Duke is at times vocal and will jump on you when he first meets you. He is fine in a crate if coaxed in with a treat. He enjoys playing with his canine foster sister Kayla, therefore he is fine with other dogs. He is good with children of all ages, however he is best with children 5 years old and older. Duke takes treats gently. He gets excited when he first meets new people however calms down in a few minutes. He is in need of some manners which his foster home is in the process of teaching him. Because Duke is young and energetic (typical young boxer), a 6′ fence would work best for him. A home with no fence would have to be committed to long walks several times throughout the day in order for Duke to burn off his energy. A runner or jogger would be perfect for Duke. Duke knows “sit” and “down.” As Duke’s capable foster home continues to work with him, we will keep you updated.
If you run or jog or feel you have the time to devote to this big and strong, happy go-lucky goofball, and you are committed to working with him in order for him to be the best boy he can be, please complete an Adoption Application found at the top of this page under the Adoption Tab. If you are already approved and would like to meet Duke, please simply email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with your name.
