Please meet Fassa’s Friend, Layla. 5-4-13: UPDATE- Though we were originally told that Layla may be afraid of large dogs, she is quickly overcoming that fear. She has been walked several times past multiple large dogs with no problem. She has also been kenneled next to a large dog without any problem. Infact, her tail continues to wag! It is very possible from what has been observed, that Layla will be just fine with a larger dog that is calm. _____________________________________________________________________________________________ Layla is a strikingly beautiful, purebred Boxer that just turned 6 years old a few months ago, according to her vet records. Layla’s story is quite sad. Four months ago, Layla’s original owner passed away. Family members were then going to take her to the shelter. A man that the family knew heard of this, and stepped in to help Layla. Due to Layla’s age, he feared that she would be passed over in a shelter as younger dogs are generally adopted before more mature dogs find home. He now seeks to find a great home for Layla. Having had her for a few months, he knows that Layla would benefit by having a fenced in yard as she likes to run and play. Also, she would likely be happiest in a calm environment.
Layla weighs roughly 55 lbs. She is fawn with a black mask, docked tail and natural ears. She is current on vaccines and has been spayed. She pulls slightly now and then when on leash. She lives now with two small “designer” dogs; a “Pomchi” and a Lhaso mix. She is perfectly fine with those two mini dogs. She doesn’t appear to enjoy the company of dogs her size or larger. It is not known if Layla had been previously exposed to children and therefore we think a home without small kids would be best for her. Layla would thrive in a stable environment where someone is home to give her the time and exercise she needs. Layla would benefit by a fenced in yard where she can exercise and play ball (which she loves to do). She also enjoys just spending time with her people relaxing.
Please don’t rule Layla out because she is an adult boxer as opposed to a puppy. She is a great girl that needs the time and attention a great home would give her. If you’re interested in meeting this great girl, please complete an adoption application Found Under the Adoption tab at the top of the page. If you’re not a match for Layla but know someone that may be, please feel free to share her bio.
